It is Kaamulan Festival again in Malaybalay, Bukidnon. Kaamulan mean gathering. The highlight of the festival is the street dancing representing the 7 ethnic tribes of Bukidnon. The contestants will wear colorful cultural costumes and will perform or interpret ethnic rituals thru their dance. There will also be trade and agri-fair, horse show and food fest. The annual ethnic festival featuring the Bukidnon seven (7) hill tribes took of with a soft opening on February 18, 2008 at the provincial capitol grounds, its usual venue in Malaybalay City , the provincial capital.

The Kaamulan Festival, now acknowledged as among the country’s well known tourist destinations, features the original presentation of the ethnic groups of the province, namely: Bukidnon, Manobo, Matigsalog, Tala-andig, Higa-onon, Umayamnon, and Tiguahanon.

This is the biggest 90 sq. km. pineapple plantation in the whole world found only in Bukidnon. This plantation is owned by Del Monte Philippines , Incorporated. Inside the plantation, you will find an 18-hole golf course and a clubhouse. You will be amazed looking at the infinite rows of red, green and orange pineapples. Del Monte plantation is located in the Municipality of Manolo Fortich , Libona, Impasug-ong, and Sumilao.

This was taken when we went to our hometown in Bukidnon to visit my father. It was the first visit of my hubby together with my daughter. This is a main road covered with corn. Yes, corn. This method is called sun drying. Since the farmers don’t have enough storage areas and drying equipments they just dry the corn by placing sacks or soft mat on the road and spread the corn grains. This process usually takes about 1-3 days.

Its merienda time! Would you like to eat butong or “young coconut”? We just mixed the coconut meat and its juice with condensed milk. We call this preparation in Visayan “lamaw”. It’s very delicious. This is my hubby with my sister Sheila.

Stop over for breakfast. We left Cagayan de Oro at around 4 am. We are going to Bukidnon to visit my father. From my right our friend Dulce with my daughter, me, and sister Sheila. We have to be at my father’s place at lunchtime. He prepared his favorite menu. Yummy!

I visited my former boss Atty. Garcillano in his farmhouse at Baungon, Bukidnon a 1-hour ride from Cagayan de Oro City. With me are my two sisters, daughter and my husband. The woman in yellow shirt is his wife. We had our lunch there and been having a chit-chat of anything.

This is taken during our first visit with my hubby in Bukidnon. This is Lolo’s sugarcane farm. Dreams come true. You’ll see in this picture the first planted stalks and was harvested before summer last year. He is now waiting for his second batch to be harvested. Bukidnon , Philippines is the major producer of sugar and sugarcane.
